A Prayer

A Prayer

(Written by Ernest Johnson)

Father I need guidance and wisdom to be strong
Faith and direction to keep me from wrong.
Your words are my shelter my strength and my salvation
You are my light, my joy and spiritual motivation.

I cannot be complete without your blessings each day
You can move mountains when they get in my way.
I admit I have sinned more times than I can count
My skeletons in the closet continue to mount.

I am not a bad person, but I have a bad side
An ocean of contempt compounded with pride.
Father, move me away from the torture of sin
Protect me from darkness, light me from within.

Guide me with your strong arms they carry my soul
Keep me in holiness so I don’t lose control.
Lord forgive me for those I have hurt
I have a long way to go and I know I need work.

In closing dear lord please lend me a hand
To be the best I can be, and all that I can.
